Straight bets are the easiest bets to make in any horse racing event. There are only three types of straight bets.
A win bet is made for the horse that you feel will win the race. If the horse wins the race, you win the bet.
Place bets are the bests, which gives you a little more flexibility on deciding to bet on a horse that you feel will come first or at least second in a race.
A show bet is when you place a bet on a horse that is expected to come first, second, or third. In any of the first three positions, the bet is won.
Exotic bets are made for the bettors who plan on putting their wagers on more difficult options. There are two types of exotic bets – horizontal and vertical. Exotic bets are made on multiple horses, determining their positions. There can be a race to race parlays for two to six races where you will bet on a specific order of horses to finish the race.
Horizontal exotic bets
Horizontal wagers are also known as parlay bets as you can bet on consecutive races altogether before the first race begins. Daily double means the first two races, Pick 3 is for three straight races, and similarly, Pick 4, Pick 5, and so on. The wagers are available based on the number of races happening in a day.
Combination of horizontal bets
The advanced bettors make multiple bets in a day. When you are confused between which horse (1,2,3) would win the race, you can play in combinations of different wagers in daily double (1-1,1-2,1-3).
Vertical Exotic Bets
Vertical wagers are similar to horizontal bets. Only in this case, you have to pick the correct finishing order of the race. An exacta is when you pick the first two finishers, the trifecta is for the first three, and superfecta is for the first four finishers.
Here you must pick the horses which you think will finish in first and second position in the exact same order.
Here you must put your wagers on the horses that you think will finish in the first, second, and third position in the exact same order.
In straight superfectas, you need to correctly pick the four horses, which you think will finish in the first four positions in the exact same order.
